Technical Support

Issue:

How to upload an assembly file (.SLDASM) from Solidworks into Fusion 360.

NOTE: All the .SLDPRT files will need to be accessible, only a .SLDASM file will not suffice.

Solution:

To upload a Solidworks Assembly into Fusion 360.

  1. In Solidworks with the .SLDASM file open, select File > Pack and Go.
Exporting the file as Pack and Go in Solidworks
  1. Save the File on the hard drive.
Pack and Go screen in Solidworks
  1. Open the Upload dialogue in Fusion 360 and either use Select Files to search for the file or Drag and Drop the file onto the upload area.
Uploading the file to Fusion
  1. Fusion 360 will ask to ''Identify one top-level assembly file''.
  2. Fusion 360 will identify any probable top-level files with a radial button to the left of the file.
  3. Select the most sensible top-level component of the assembly so Fusion 360 can then structure the other components from that one.
  4. Then select Upload and wait for the Upload process to complete.
Uploading screen in Fusion.
  1. Now the file will be in the selected Fusion 360 Project Folder.
The Data Panel in Fusion.
