Scale is lost when exporting and reimporting STL from Fusion 360

Issue:

Scale is lost when exporting and reimporting STL from Fusion 360. The dimensions of the object once reimported are ten times bigger than the original.

Causes:

When reimporting an STL from the Fusion 360 Design Environment, it will be converted to centimeters.

Solution:

Export an object in STL format and retain dimensions when bringing it back into Fusion 360:
  1. From the Document settings, click Units.
  2. Select centimeters before exporting or saving as STL.
    •  DocUnits.png.
  3. Export the file and reset the original document units.
