Issue:
When uploading a SolidWorks file to Fusion 360, the file is available in the data panel. Then when opening the file, it opens the web browser to view the file in Fusion Team.Environment:
This article applies to the operating systems listed. If your operating system is not shown, it may be because it is not supported or because support information is not yet available. For details on operating systems no longer supported by the vendor, see Product Support Lifecycle.Causes:
- The file was uploaded to Fusion Team and not yet converted to a Fusion 360 design.
- Fusion 360 is on a Personal license which does not allow translation for commercial file formats like SolidWorks (SLDPRT).
Solution:
If using the Personal use license for Fusion 360, the file cannot be translated into a Fusion 360 design. The Personal license does not include use of commercial translators per the Fusion 360 Free Licenses FAQ.If on an education or commercial license type and this is happening:
- Right-click the file in the Data Panel
- Select Convert to Fusion 360 Design.
- This would only have happened if the file was uploaded to Fusion Team directly, instead of Fusion 360.
