Issue:
Users reported that after Fusion crashes, an autosaved recovery file cannot be opened from the File Recovery dialog box. One of the following behaviors can be seen:- The file will not open.
- The file does not seem to appear within the list of the files that can be recovered.
- Fusion crashes shortly after opening the recovery file.
- Fusion hangs and shows "not responding" shortly after opening the recovery file.
Solution:
Recover the file manually
- Go to the folder with the recovery files (<GUID> is a sequence of letters and numbers):
-
- Windows: %appdata%\Local\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\<GUID>\CrashRecovery
- macOS: Macintosh HD/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Autodesk Fusion 360/<GUID>/CrashRecovery
- Change the extension of the recovery file from BACKUP to F3D.
- Upload the recovery file in the data panel in Fusion.
- (Optional) Overwrite the last version of the file by using the option File -> Save As.
Check for the local cache files manually
- Go to the folder
- Windows: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\<GUID>\W.login\F
- macOS: Macintosh HD/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Autodesk Fusion 360/<GUID>/W.Login
- Checked for the date and missing files.
- Copy those files to any local folder.
- Upload / Open that file in the data panel in Fusion.
Notes:
-
- In specific circumstances, the recovery fail may fail to be created. See: Autosave or Recovery File is not being created in Fusion.
- The manual recovery can only be applied for Fusion designs with no linked components.
Revert to a previous version of the design
Promote the last working version of the design. See: How to revert to a previous version of a Fusion design.
Uninstall and Reinstall the program:
If the previous solutions do not work, try to an uninstall and reinstall. See: How to uninstall Fusion using the Fusion Service Utility.
