Issue:
Autodesk is updating the solving options available within the simulation workspace in Fusion.Starting on September 6, 2022:
- The ability to run simulation studies on a local computer will no longer be an option for simulation solving.
- All simulation study types within the simulation workspace of Fusion will only have the cloud-solving option.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What Fusion users will be impacted by this change?
Anyone who currently uses or plans to use the local solving capabilities within the Fusion simulation workspace.
What are the effective dates for this change?
The changes will become effective with the September 6, 2022, Fusion update.
Which Fusion simulation study types are changing?
Static Stress, modal frequencies, thermal, and thermal stress simulation study types. These study types have previously allowed for local solving before this Fusion update.
How will Fusion subscribers be able to access Static Stress, Modal Frequencies, Thermal, and Thermal Stress simulations in the future?
Linear static stress, modal frequencies, thermal, and thermal stress study types will continue to be available through cloud solving as a part of the Simulation Extension. Fusion customers can subscribe to the Simulation Extension or use cloud tokens to access and run simulations on the cloud.
The current simulation pay-per-result rates can be found within this help topic: Tokens for Fusion Simulation studies.
Note: The token cost of running a Static Stress simulation on the cloud using Fusion is 0 tokens. Refer to Tokens for Fusion Simulation studies for the most up-to-date information on cloud solve token rates.
Will I be able to access the results from simulations I have used local solves for previously?
Yes, any previous analysis using local solving will continue to display any results that had been completed previously.
Any changes to an existing simulation after this update, a study must be rerun using the currently available solving options. There won't be a possibility to rerun it locally after this September Fusion update.
If I am in the middle of a project at the time of this update, can I delay the Fusion update to solve the remaining tasks on my local machine?
The update can be temporarily paused by enabling Offline Mode before September 6, 2022. This enables delay of the update, only until a notification is displayed to reconnect to the Fusion servers (up to two weeks after switching offline). More details on how to enable Fusion Offline Mode can be found here: How to work in offline mode in Fusion.
It is recommended to not rely solely on the limited time which is provided by using the offline mode to complete the project. If more time is required after being prompted to log back in, the cloud solve options can be explored, which use the same solvers as the local solvers had previously.
