Copy designs

Learn how to copy a current or historical version of a design in Fusion.

Copy a design

  1. In the Data Panel, right-click the design.

  2. Click Copy.

    If there are related drawings, they will display in the Related Drawings dialog.

  3. Optional: Click Include Drawings to include related drawings along with the design.

    The Copy To dialog displays.

  4. In the Copy To dialog, select the project or folder to copy to.

  5. Optional: Click New Folder or New Project to create and select a new folder or project as the location.

  6. Click Copy.

A separate copy of the design is saved in the new location. Any external references still point to the original designs. Any Assembly Contexts are broken.

Copy a historical version

Note: This functionality is not available if you're working in a hub with collaborative editing. Check for this icon collaborative editing next to the hub name to find out if collaborative editing is available.
  1. In the Data Panel, navigate to the design.

  2. Click the Version Number.

    The design details expand.

    On the History tab, the first 3 versions display in order from newest to oldest.

  3. On the History tab, click Show All # Versions.

    The design history expands to display the remaining versions.

  4. Navigate to the version you want to copy and expand the More vertical more icon menu.

  5. Click Copy Version copy icon.

A separate copy of the selected version of the design is saved as V1 in the new location.

Tips

  • Hold Ctrl (Windows) or Command (MacOS) and click to select multiple designs.
  • To Include Drawings, copy one design at a time.
  • You can copy up to 20 up-to-date drawings with a design.
  • If you clicked Skip Drawing in the Related Drawings dialog, check the Include Drawings checkbox in the Copy To dialog to copy the related drawings along with the design.
