Offline mode
Learn how to use offline mode in Fusion to continue working on cached designs when you do not have a reliable internet connect, when service maintenance is scheduled, or when unexpected outages occur.
Offline mode is indicated by a red dot on the Job Status icon in the top-right corner of the Application bar. You can manyally switch to offline mode in the Job Status flyout; however, Fusion will automatically enter offline mode in the following cases:
- Service maintenance: Some maintenance activities require Fusion to go offline for a specific timeframe. You'll be notified of scheduled maintenance via an in-product banner 72 hours in advance.
- Unexpected outage: If Fusion experiences an unexpected service disruption, it will automatically switch to offline mode as a fail-safe.
- No internet connection: When Fusion detects that you are not connected to the internet.
Fusion will automatically switch back online when the service maintenance has been completed, the unexpected outage is resolved, or the internet connect is restored.
Working offline
When in offline mode, you can:
- Work on or edit any cached design (files that have been opened are automatically downloaded and cached locally).
- Use the Insert Component and Insert Derive tools to insert cached components and derived design features.
- Use the Derive tool.
However, some actions are not available in offline mode:
Uploading files
Creating new folders
Creating milestones/versions
View design history
Note: If you're working in a hub with collaborative editing, design history is not available in offline mode. Check for this iconnext to the hub name to find out if collaborative editing is available.

Saving your work offline
Any documents you change and save in offline mode automatically update in the Data Panel.
When you save in offline mode, Fusion operates on a "last-save-wins" basis. This means that only the most recent saved changes to a design will be synced to the dashboard.
When you work and save in offline mode, a queue is created. It is not subject to the cache time limit in the preferences.
Additional considerations
Unexpected latency notificatioins
If Fusion detects service latency, meaning slow internet that affects cloud-based tasks like rendering and simulation, a yellow dot appears on the Job Status icon . You will still be online and can perform all file and design operations as you normally would, except for caching files.
Interrupted uploads
If you lose your internet connection or accidentally close Fusion while a file is uploading, your data is not lost. When you connect to the internet again, the process continues and your files upload to the cloud.
