Ground and unground components
Learn how to use the Ground To Parent tool to ground a child component to its parent component so they move together in Fusion.
Ground a child component to its parent
- Expand the Browser.
- Right-click the component you want to ground to its parent component.
- Select Ground To Parent.
The component is ground to its parent component. If the component was moved or had an existing assembly relationship, the feature is overridden.
Unground a child component from its parent
- Expand the Browser.
- Right-click the component you want to unground from its parent component.
- Select Unground From Parent.
The component is unground from its parent component. If the component had an existing assembly features that were overridden by ground to parent, the features are computed and the component moves depending on the state of the assembly features.
Tips
- When you create a joint with a component that is grounded to parent, if it is the first component that you select, it is automatically ungrounded from parent. The second component you select maintains its current ground to parent status.
