Rigid groups

A Rigid Group is an assembly relationship that locks the relative position of selected components in Fusion. The components are treated as a single object when you move them in the canvas or apply joints.

By default, components in assemblies are flexible in Fusion, able to move freely until you define assembly relationships between them, like joints. Each instance of a component is flexible, independent of other instances.

Use a Rigid Group to:

  • Fix the position of multiple components in place, relative to each other
  • Quickly lock the relative position of all components in an inserted subassembly, so they all move together when you create joints to define motion in the assembly
  • Minimize the number of individual rigid joints, which can each only be applied between two components
