Insert an SVG file in an library object

Use Insert SVG to place a scalable vector image in a symbol or footprint.

  1. In the Electronics workspace, in an electronics library document, double-click a symbol or footprint in the Content Manager to open it in the canvas.

  2. On the Symbol toolbar (for a symbol), or the Footprint toolbar (for a footprint), click Place > Insert SVG insert svg icon.

  3. In the Open File dialog, navigate to and select an image.

  4. In the Insert SVG panel, confirm the settings:

    • Selected file: the file you want to import
    • Target layer: the layer on which to place the image
    • Strokes only: whether to fill curves in the imported image
    • Scale Factor: the size of the image relative to the original
  5. To place the image:

    1. In the Insert SVG panel, type the coordinates in the Placement Origin field to place it in a specific location relative to the origin.
    2. Alternatively, click in the canvas to place the image at the mouse location.
  6. In the Insert SVG panel, click Done to place the image and close the panel.
