Meanders

The Meander tool matches the lengths of traces by adding a meander pattern. Apply meanders to length-tune a single trace or a differential pair.

The Meander dialog automatically fills in the default values:

• Target Length: Enter the desired length for the selected trace.

• Tolerance: Enter the allowable range for length adjustment.

• Gap: The spacing between the meander waves. The default Gap is calculated with a factor of 2.5 mil. You can reduce it, but it cannot be smaller than the copper clearance. Adjust the gap factor in the Design Rules editor.

• Symmetry:

  • Asymmetric: Applies the meander to one signal (automatically the shortest in differential pair).
  • Symmetric: Applies the meander to both signals.

Note: For a differential pair, Target Length is the length of the longer signal. For single traces, it is the current length.
