Specify manufacturing methods in the Generative Design workspace
Learn how to specify manufacturing methods and constraints for the generative design process.
On the Define tab, click Design Criteria > Manufacturing
.
The Manufacturing dialog opens. By default, Unrestricted, Additive, and Milling methods are selected.
Specify the manufacturing constrains for the following methods:
- Unrestricted. Select this method if manufacturing constraints don't limit the shape generation.
- Additive. Select this method and specify its constraints to generate outcomes which can be manufactured using the additive manufacturing process.
- Milling. Select this method and specify its constraints to generate outcomes which can be subtractively manufactured using 2.5-, 3- or 5-axis milling operations.
- Select the 2.5-axis, 3-axis, or 5-axis configuration from the drop-down menu and specify parameters.
- To add a milling configuration, click
, and select a configuration from the drop-down menu.
- To delete a milling configuration, select it on the list and click
.
- 2-axis Cutting. Select this method and specify its constraints to generate outcomes which can be manufactured using 2-axis cutting operations.
- Casting. Select this method and specify its constraints to generate outcomes which can be manufactured using casting operations.
Click OK.
The dialog closes.
Tip: To modify the specified manufacturing methods and constraints, mouse over the Manufacturing node in the browser, and then click.
