Marking menu reference
The Marking menu is a radial menu that provides you with quick access to frequently used commands.
Right-click anywhere in the canvas, and the Marking menu will appear around your cursor.
To activate a command, drag the cursor in the direction of the command, then click anywhere in the highlighted wedge.
To dismiss the Marking menu, click within the middle of the menu, outside the menu, or press the Esc
key.
The Marking menu is divided into 3 sections:
- the first level radial menu
- the second level radial menu
- the context menu
First level radial menu
The first level radial menu contains frequently used commands.
In the Design workspace, there are 8 default commands in the first level radial menu:
- Repeat last command
- PressPull
- Redo
- Hole
- Sketch
- Move/Copy
- Undo
- Delete
Workspaces, toolbar tabs, contextual environments, and active commands
The commands that appear in the Marking menu change for each workspace, toolbar tab, contextual environment, and active command.
Examples:
- In the Design workspace, when you switch to the Surface tab, the Hole command is replaced by Patch.
- When you switch to the Sheet Metal tab, the Flange command appears instead.
- The Form contextual environment displays the Edit Form and Face commands.
- The Generative Design workspace displays commands that help you set up generative studies.
- The Render workspace displays commands related to appearances, textures, scenes, and rendering.
- The Animation workspace displays commands that help you set up and share animations.
- The Simulation workspace displays commands that help you set up simulation studies.
- The Manufacture workspace is limited Repeat, Undo, Redo, and Import, but displays a more extensive context menu for setting up and managing toolpaths.
- The Drawing workspace displays commands that help you document and annotate your design, as well as annotation tools in the context menu.
Second level radial menu
In the first level radial menu, if you move the cursor over the bottom command, the second level radial menu displays around the cursor.
There are 8 default Sketch commands that display in the second level radial menu:
- Finish Sketch
- 2-Point Rectangle
- Fit Point Spline
- Project
- Line
- Offset
- Sketch Dimension
- Center Diameter Circle
If you access the Sketch commands from the second level radial menu, you can speed up your workflow significantly.
To return to the first level radial menu, move the cursor over the up arrow.
Context menu
A context menu appears below the radial menu, and contains:
- Navigation controls like Pan, Zoom, and Orbit
- Isolate/Unisolate
- A list of workspaces to make it easier to switch
- Saved Shortcut keys
To activate a command, select it from the context menu.
Gestures
As you start to memorize the location of frequently used commands in the Marking menu, you can use gestures to select commands without bringing up the full Marking menu.
Gestures work for any command that appears in a radial menu.
When a command is active, you can also use gestures to select contextual commands like OK and Cancel.
This is especially helpful for the Sketch second level radial menu.
To access the Sketch commands, right-click, hold, and drag down first, then in the direction of where the command appears in the Sketch second level radial menu.
Examples:
- 2-Point Rectangle: Drag down, then to the upper right.
- Fit Point Spline: Drag in an L-shape.
- Line: Drag straight down.
- Offset: Drag down and to the left.
- Finish Sketch: Drag down, then halfway up.
- OK, from within a command: Right-click, hold, then drag quickly to the right.
