Edit designs

You can open a design directly from the Fusion web client to make edits in the Fusion desktop app. If you are using a collaborative editing hub, this also works for designs in historical states. If you have Autodesk Desktop Connector installed, you can edit designs locally while they are stored in the cloud.

Note: Editing a design on the desktop does not check out and lock it. Other people can make concurrent edits. Each time the design is saved locally, a new change is saved back to the cloud. Concurrent edits are saved as separate changes in the Fusion web client. Changes need to be reconciled manually.

To open a design for editing from the Fusion web client, use one of the following methods:

  1. In the navigation panel, open the project and folder containing the design you want to edit.
  2. Locate the design and hover over it to display the More menu more.
  3. Click the More menu more, and select Open in Desktop from the list.

Overview Tab

  1. Under the Overview tab, open the design you want to edit.
  2. In the top-right corner of the page, click Open in Desktop.

View Tab

  1. Open the design you want to edit in the View tab.
  2. In the top-right corner of the page, click Open in Desktop.

The design will open on your local device in the Fusion desktop app. After you make your edits and save your changes, they will automatically appear in the Fusion web client.
