Haas Classic
Connect your Haas machine with a Haas Classic connection type to its Machine Profile in Fusion Machine Connect.
Record connection details for a direct cable connection
On the shop floor, go to the Haas machine controller.
Verify that it is a classic controller and looks like the images below:


Verify that your machine is using a direct cable connection and that the cable is correctly between the Gateway computer and the Haas Classic controller.

The serial cable should connect the control unit with a male 25-pin connector (although not all 25 pins are connected).

The other end of the serial cable should connect to the Gateway computer.
Note: This is usually a 9-pin female connector (although some computers may require a 25-pin female connector).On the controller, press the SETNG GRAPH button.

The upper right area of the controller screen should display tabbed pages.Press the PAGE UP or PAGE DOWN button to navigate to the IO tab.


The I/O page labelled RS-232 ports displays on the screen.
In the list, locate the MACHINE DATA COLLECT setting and turn it ON.

In the list, locate BAUD RATE SELECT and write down the value to reference later when you setup the connection for this machine's profile in Fusion Machine Connect.

In the list, locate RS-232 DATA BITST and write the value.

In the list, locate STOP BIT and write down the value.

In the list, locate PARITY SELECT and write down the value.

In the list, locate SYNCHRONIZATION and write down the matching Flow control option:
- Software: If the SYNCHRONIZATION value is
XON/XOFF. - Hardware: If the SYNCHRONIZATION value is
RTS/CTS.

- Software: If the SYNCHRONIZATION value is
On the shop floor, go to the Gateway computer to identify which serial port or COM port is used for the connection. If you are using Windows 10, use the Device Manager:
- Launch the Device Manager app.
- Scroll down to Ports and expand the list.
- Identify the COM ports in use and write it down for reference later.

In this example, there is just one serial port called COM3.
You recorded the machine specific details required to set up a connection for this machine.
Set up a data collection connection
If you have already created a machine profile:
On the machines page, click the Haas Classic machine you want to connect.
On the machine profile page, click the Connection details tab.
In the Data collection section, click Set up connection.
Choose a Gateway from the list that the machine is connected to, then click Next.
In the Machine Controller list, select Haas.
In the Connection type list, select Haas Classic.
Enter the connection details you recorded earlier from the machine's controller settings:
- COM Port: Enter the serial COM Port number.
- Baud rate: Select the value you recorded for the BAUD RATE SELECT setting.
- Number of bits: Enter the value you recorded for the RS-232 DATA BITS setting.
- Stop bits: Select the value you recorded for the STOP BIT setting.
- Parity: Select the value you recorded for the PARITY SELECT setting.
- Flow control: Select the method that matches the SYNCHRONIZATION setting:
- Software: If the SYNCHRONIZATION value is
XON/XOFF. - Hardware: If the SYNCHRONIZATION value is
RTS/CTS.
- Software: If the SYNCHRONIZATION value is
Click Next.
Review the connection settings and click Finish.
The connection details display in the machine profile page.
