Haas with MTConnect

Connect your Haas machine with a Next Generation Controller (NGC) and an MTConnect connection type to its Machine Profile in Fusion Machine Connect.

Record connection details

1. On the shop floor, go to the Haas machine controller.

2. Verify that it is a NGC controller.

   

3. On the controller, press the Setting key

   

4. On the controller, press the Cursor arrow keys to navigate to the main settings screen.

   

   

   The main Setting page displays on the screen.

5. Use the number keys on the keyboard and type the number ‘143’ to search for the port number.

   

6. On the screen, identify the row called Machine Data Collect and locate the port number in Value column. Write down the value to reference later when you setup the connection for this machine's profile in Fusion Machine Connect.

   

   Note: In this example, the value is 5051.

7. Record your machine's IP Address:

   • If you have a wired connection, press the right arrow key to switch to the Network tab on the screen. Then navigate to the to the Wired Connection tab. Write down the IP Address to reference later.

   

   • If you have a wireless connection, press the right arrow key to switch to the Network tab on the screen. Then navigate to the Wireless Connection tab. Write down the IP Address to reference later.

   

You recorded the machine specific details required to set up a connection for this machine.

Set up a data collection connection

Before you can connect your machine, you need to record the IP Address and Port number for the specific machine you want to connect on the shop floor.

Once you record these values, you can connect the machine profile in Fusion Machine Connect in the Fusion web client:

1. In Fusion Machine Connect in the Fusion web client, navigate to the machines page.
2. Click the profile for the Haas machine with MTConnect that you want to connect.
3. On the machine profile page, click the Connection details tab.
4. In the Data collection section, click Set up connection.
5. Choose a Gateway from the list to connect to, then click Next.
6. Expand the list of Machine Controller types and select Haas.
7. Expand the Connection types and select MTConnect.
8. If prompted, select Haas as the Preset type.
9. For the Address, enter the IP Address that you recorded from the machine's controller settings earlier.
10. For Port, enter 8082. Note: The Port number specified by Haas is 8082 and will be correct for most machines.
11. Click Next.
12. Review the connection settings and click Finish.
