Mesh Selection Palette reference

The Mesh Selection Palette dialog displays in the canvas when you use Direct Edit to enter the Direct Mesh Editing contextual environment in Fusion.

It also displays if the design is set to Direct Modeling mode.

The dialog contains settings to help you refine selection sets as you select individual faces on a mesh body.

Selection Type

Choose a selection method.

  • window select icon Window: Use a rectangular window to create the selection set.
  • window select icon Free Form: Use a freeform lasso to create the selection set.
  • window select icon Paint: Use a paint brush to create the selection set.

Selection Filter

Choose a geometry type to filter your selections in the canvas.

  • mesh face selection icon Faces: Limits selections to faces on a mesh body.
  • mesh face groups selection icon Face Groups: Limits selections to Face Groups on a mesh body.
  • mesh body selection icon Bodies: Limits selections to mesh bodies.

Brush Size

Drag the slider to increase or decrease the size of the selection brush.

The brush size is proportional to the size of the mesh body.

Select Back Faces

Check to select faces by clicking on the front or back side of the face.

Modify Selection section

Expand

  • mesh expand to face group icon Expand To Face Group (Alt+G): Expands face selection to include all faces in the same face group.
  • mesh expand to connect icon Expand To Connected (Alt+C): Expands face selection to all faces connected to the current selection.

Grow/Shrink

  • mesh grow icon Grow Selection (Shift+Up): Increases the boundary of the selection set.
  • mesh shrink iconShrink Selection (Shift+Down): Decreases the boundary of the selection set.

Invert (Alt+N)

mesh invert icon Selects all faces the were previously not selected and deselects all faces that were previously selected.

Selected Faces

Displays the number of faces currently selected on the mesh body.

Selected Face Groups

Displays the number of face groups currently selected.

Selected Mesh Bodies

Displays the number of mesh Bodies currently selected.
