Types of folders in the Machine Library

The Machine Library is organized into several folders, each serving a specific purpose:

  • Fusion Library: This folder contains read-only machine definitions provided by Autodesk. It includes a wide range of common machines from multiple manufacturers. To use and edit a machine from the Fusion Library, you must copy it to one of the My Machines subfolders.

  • My Machines: This folder is a personal area where you can store, organize, create, edit, and import your own, custom machine definitions. There are three subfolders:

    • Local: This subfolder contains machine definitions saved locally on your computer. This ensures offline access to custom machine definitions.

    • Linked: This subfolder contains machine definitions that are stored in an external folder. By establishing links to external folders, you can centrally manage custom machine definitions while keeping the files separate.

    • Cloud: This subfolder contains machine definitions online. By storing custom machine definitions in the cloud, you can access them from other devices with an internet connection, enabling collaboration with other users.

  • Document: This folder contains machine definitions used in the current Fusion design file.

  • Recent: This folder contains recently accessed machine definitions for quick access.

Tip: If the Cloud folder is not visible, go to Preferences > General > Manufacture and select Enable Cloud Libraries.

Icons in the Machine Library

In the Machine Library, a machine definition may have multiple icons to indicate additional information about the machine definition. For example:

Available icons:

  • linked post processor icon indicates that a machine definition has a linked post processor, ensuring optimized NC code generation for the specific machine.

  • linked machine model icon indicates that a machine definition for a CNC machine has a linked machine model, ensuring it is machine simulation-ready.

  • machine connector icon indicates that a machine definition for a CNC machine has a Machine Connector, which enables real-time import of inspection results over a live connection between Fusion and the CNC machine during probing operations.

  • exclamation mark icon indicates that a machine definition for an additive printer does not have a print setting selected.
