Orient a machine model in the Machine Builder

Use the Orient Machine Model option to align a CNC machine's model with the ViewCube orientation. This is useful if adjusting the attach point during machine model setup results in an orientation that doesn't match your desired setup in manufacturing operations.

  1. Open the machine model in the Machine Builder:

    1. On the Manufacture workspace toolbar, on any tab, click Manage > Machine Library machine library.

    2. In the Machine Library, navigate to one of the My Machines subfolders and select the machine definition.

Tip: Ensure that the machine definition has a linked machine model, indicating it is machine simulation-ready.

    3. On the toolbar, click linked machine model icon to open the machine definition's machine model in the Machine Builder contextual environment.

  2. On the Machine Builder contextual environment's toolbar, click Orient Machine Model orient machine model.

  3. In the Orient Machine dialog, select an Orientation to pick the two axes that you want to define.

  4. Click Select for the first axis, then, on the canvas, click an edge on the machine model's geometry to define it.

  5. (Optional) To reverse the direction of the specified axis by 180 degrees, select the Flip Axis checkbox.

  6. Repeat steps 4-5 for the second axis.

  7. Select an Origin for the machine model's coordinate system. Choose:

    • Model Origin to use the default origin of the machine model.
    • Select Origin to click a vertex or edge on the machine model's geometry.
  8. Click OK.
