Maintain Fusion Manage system integrity through workflow management

Fusion Manage

Fusion Manage requires a separate license and can be used with Fusion or independently. Learn more.

Note:

Updated features and workspaces described in this topic are being rolled out gradually to customers. Contact your Autodesk representative for more detail.

Explore the workflow editor

Basic workspace with workflow and Revisioning workspace types include a workflow management section. This section lets you manage the workflow that governs item lifecycles in the workspace or related workspaces.

By default, your site includes workflows with built-in scripts. These scripts run when certain states are reached. For example, in the Change Orders workspace, double-click the Initiate Tasks transition. Notice the validation script. It checks if conditions are met before progressing to the Perform Change state.

Many workflows are complex. Do not take changes lightly. You could easily unlink something or create undesirable results.

Recommendations

  • Maintain workflows as they are. Modifying them could cause unexpected results.
  • Explore workflows first to understand the workflow editor. Double-click each transition and state to see settings. Do not save changes when closing the editor. See Workflow Management for details.
  • See Change management to get a better understanding of what the overall change process is.
  • Speak to your Autodesk representative to discuss any changes you want to make before attempting to make them yourself.

Manage the quick release process

The Quick Release action is in the Manage tab of the Fusion desktop client. It transitions components or drawings to Pre-Production without a change order. This is useful for quick releases without formal approval. Administration settings control this behavior. By default, Quick Release includes "Go to Pre-Production" and "Revise to Pre-Production" lifecycle options.

Recommendations

  • Retain the Quick Release settings as they are. Modifying them can cause undesirable results, as shown below.
