Items are the building blocks of Fusion process management. An item is a unique data record used to track designs and drawings throughout the product lifecycle and the change approval workflow. Once you have assigned item numbers to parts, you can start moving the parts through the release process using either Quick Release or Release to Change Order (CO).
Note: If you're working in a hub with collaborative editing, components that share the same part number will also share the same item number, revisions, lifecycles, and states. When you try to assign an item number to one of these components, only the primary model of the shared part number group will appear in the dialog. This is because the item number is assigned to the shared part number, and the primary model represents the entire group. Learn more about shared part numbers.
