Activity 1: Explore Fusion Manage

Fusion Manage requires a separate license and can be used with Fusion or independently. Learn more.

In this activity, you'll explore the key concepts that you'll need to work with Fusion Manage. From there, you'll explore the user interface in the desktop client. You'll then locate and open the Fusion Manage site from three different locations.

Important: It is assumed that you are performing these tutorials in your production environment. Therefore, we recommend that you read through the relevant help pages and activities so that you know what the result will be before creating or modifying anything.

Prerequisites

Before you can complete this activity, you must:

  • Install the Fusion desktop client.
  • Complete the required steps in Get Started with Fusion.
  • Your administrator must enable you to create your own project or invite you to a project where you can save and edit components and drawings.

Steps

  1. Familiarize yourself with all Fusion Manage key concepts.

    • Read through all topics in Get started with Fusion Manage.

      These topics introduce you to what Fusion Manage is and the key concepts you'll need to understand how to use it.

  2. Explore the Manage tab of the Fusion desktop client.

    1. Launch the Fusion desktop client and log in.

    2. In the Data Panel, select the hub that was created for your organization by your hub administrator.

    3. Click the Manage tab.

    4. Place your pointer over each tool in the Manage tab and read the tooltips.

  3. Access the Fusion Manage site from the Fusion web client.

    1. Open the Fusion web client.

    2. At the top of the page, click Process.

      The Fusion Manage site opens to the main dashboard.

  4. Access the Fusion Manage site from an item's properties in the Fusion desktop client.

    1. Open the Fusion desktop client and log in.

    2. Open or create any component. It does not matter what component you use, but it must be saved to a project in your hub.

    3. From the Manage tab, click Assign > Assign Item Number.

      Note: For now, you'll use the default item numbering scheme. In another tutorial, you'll explore assigning item numbers in more detail.

    4. Select the item, then click Submit. Wait for the item number to be assigned, then close the window.

      This has created an item for the component in the Fusion Manage site.

    5. Open the Properties for the component.

    6. From the Manage section, click the Item Number.

  5. Access the Fusion Manage site from the Manage tab in the Fusion desktop client.

    1. Keep the component open from the previous step.

    2. From the Manage tab, click Details in the Process Management section.

Activity 1 summary

In this activity you discovered some key concepts about Fusion Manage and explored the different options and purpose of each function in the Fusion Manage toolbar. You then launched the Fusion Manage site from the Fusion web client, from a component's properties, and from the Manage tab.
