  • If your machine has multi- axis capabilities, you can automatically rotate a part to machine a different face using 4 th axis indexing, or you can fix two rotational axes in a position for 3+2 machining, referred to as 5- axis positional machining.

  • The Rotary Parallel strategy is a finishing operation that uses the 4 th axis on your machine tool to cut parts where continuous rotary motion is beneficial.

  • I suspect though that you may need to change the direction of the 4 th axis in the post configuration So the Machine you have selected in your setup doesn't have a 4 th axis , so i'm not sure how you have it positioned in the machine.

  • Do you know why this does not take into account 4 th axis positioning? On my test part it seemed to work by probing at A0 then positioning to A90 .

  • I'm trying to configure Fusion 360 to generate a toolpath using a 4 th axis . I selected the generic Autodesk 5- axis machine and edited the axes to 4 axes (the last one is A; rotary).

  • hello all, working on a 4 th axis piece that is giving me strange results. so basically before it gets to 4 th axis , i finish both ends of this piece, and then but it on a fixture(not in file attached) and then cut all 4 lengths, roughing i cut from 2 sides, then a parallel toolpath to finish from each of the 4 sides. my trouble is that when finished, the parallel toolpath doesnt touch a little less than half of each side. pictured below is a screenshot of the model, the yellow silhouette is basically where it isnt touching the material. it is all roughed and finished in the same hold, so even if it wasnt running true, or indicated properly, everything was cut at once and all of that work should be good, meaning it should have finished the highlighted area, just not technically right to the ends of the part. so that should eliminate any kind of setup issue. the toolpath seems to cut right, but it must be just above the roughed surface for some reason.. simulation looks fine too.. the only thing i can think of is that something moved in process. or some how the code isnt right. cutting this on a 4 th axis rotary on a haas tm3p im not too sure if this is a good description of my issue, so file is attached, and i can answer any questions if needed.. please help!

  • I tried every method known to me to solve the error but nothing seems to work.Error is cannot unwrap cyclic geometry. This is 4 th axis work for a Datron M8 Give this a view and see if your issue still persists: Hi seth I used your contours you have made but I still get the error when I go into it to change my tooling speeds and multiple depths.why is that?
