Pin

The Pin tool lets you pin a component to fix it in place in the active design in Fusion.

Note: This feature was recently renamed from Ground to Pin.

When you Pin or Unpin a component, a feature is created in the timeline.

Ground To Parent and Pin

These two tools can seem similar but they have several key differences. Ground To Parent defines an inherent fixed relationship (similar to a rigid joint) between parent and child components while Pin fixes the component in place in the design itself.

When you pin a component:

  • It is pinned in its current location to the top-level coordinate system of the design.
  • A Pin feature is created in the timeline.

When you ground a child component to its parent:

  • The child component moves back to its initial position when it was created or inserted into the design.
  • The components move together.
