Project reference

The Project tool projects geometry from outside the active sketch onto the sketch plane so that you can reference it in Fusion.

Design > Sketch > Create > Project/Include > Project project icon

Use project geometry to create copies of existing model geometry and sketch entities in the active sketch.

You can project model edges, work geometry, and sketch entities into the active sketch. Projected geometry is locked by default.

If you create a sketch on an existing planar face, the edges of that face automatically project into the sketch.

Geometry

Select the bodies, faces, edges, or points to project onto the sketch plane in the active sketch.

Selection Filter

Select an option to filter the selection set to certain types of geometry.

  • Specified Entities: Limits the selection set to faces, edges, and points.
  • Bodies: Limits the selection set to bodies.

Establishes an associative relationship between the selected objects and the projection geometry on the sketch plane.

  • Check to maintain associativity. When you update the selected bodies, faces, edges, or points, the sketch updates to reflect the changes.
  • Uncheck to create non-associative projection geometry. When you update the selected objects, the sketch does not update.
