Activity 3: Explore the Fusion Manage Extension site

This feature is part of an extension. Extensions are a flexible way to access additional capabilities in Fusion. Learn more.

In this activity, you’ll navigate the Fusion Manage Extension site, then locate and open the Manage Extension administration settings. From there, you’ll explore how the settings relate to the workspace settings.

Prerequisites

Before you can complete this activity, you must complete Activity 1. You should also complete Activity 2.

Steps

  1. Open your Fusion Manage Extension site to the main dashboard.

    Note: See Activity 2 if you are unsure how to do this.
  2. Explore all tabs of an item in the Components workspace.

    1. Click the Navigation menu at the top-left corner of the page.

    2. Select Workspaces > Design and Engineering.

      You should see two workspaces: Components and Drawings.

    3. Open the Components workspace, then select the item you created in Activity 2.

    4. Explore each tab and the information contained in each one.

    5. In the Properties tab, edit some of the properties such as the part number or notes.

  3. Explore the Change Management workspaces.

    1. Open the Navigation menu, then select Workspaces > Change Management.

    2. Take note of the workspaces here. In another tutorial, you’ll explore each of these workspaces and how to configure them.

  4. Explore the Workspace Manager of the PLM Settings.

    1. Open the Navigation menu, then select PLM Settings > Workspace Manager.

      Tip: Right-click Workspace Manager and open it in a new tab.

      The Workspace Manager is where you configure the content and behavior of each workspace in your site. You'll notice that the UI is different to the main dashboard and workspaces. Expand each section and compare how many settings are available for system workspaces (Components and Drawings) versus the other workspaces. You’ll explore these in more detail in the next tutorial.

  5. Explore the other areas of the PLM Settings and PLM Roles.

    Refer to the help for more information on what you can do in each workspace.

Activity 3 summary

In this activity, you explored the main workspaces of the Fusion Manage Extension site. From there, you located and opened the Fusion Manage Extension administration settings and explored the purpose of each section of the administration.
