Create a primitive pipe

Learn how to use the Pipe tool to create a surface body in the shape of a primitive pipe in Fusion.

Note: Only available in Direct Modeling mode.
  1. On the toolbar, click Surface > Create > Pipe pipe icon.

    The Pipe dialog displays.

  2. In the canvas, select a Path for the pipe to follow.

  3. Drag the Distance manipulator handle along the path in the canvas, or specify a decimal percentage value.

  4. Select a Section type:

    • Circular: Sweeps a circular section profile along the path.
    • Square: Sweeps a square section profile along the path.
    • Triangular: Sweeps an equilateral triangular section profile along the path.
  5. Specify the Section Size.

  6. Select an Operation, and adjust its associated settings:

    • new body icon New Body: Creates a new body in the active component.
    • new component icon New Component: Creates a new body in a new component.
  7. Click OK.

The surface body displays in the canvas, in the shape of a primitive pipe that follows the path you selected.

Tips

  • Uncheck Chain Selection if you don't want to automatically select tangentially connected geometry when selecting faces or edges.
