Explode text in a sketch

Learn how to use the Explode Text tool to convert text to curves in an active sketch in Fusion.

Note: Before you can use the Explode Text tool, create a sketch that contains text or right-click an existing sketch with text and select Edit Sketch to enter the Sketch contextual environment.
  1. In the Canvas, right-click the text you want to convert to curves.
  2. Select Explode Text.

The text converts to fixed sketch geometry and displays in the canvas.

Note: The text parameter is not referenced by another parameter, both it and the corresponding text height parameter are deleted. If the text parameter is referenced in another parameter's expression, then only the non-referenced text height parameter is deleted.

Tips

  • Modify your text to the desired layout and wording before you explode the text. Once converted, you cannot edit it as text but you can modify it like regular sketch geometry.
  • For best results, use the Explode Text tool on text that uses a Latin font.
