Show iso-angle lines on a surface

Iso-angle projects onto the surfaces from a certain angle, and creates shaded bands and/or lines where the surface is at right angles to the projection direction.

Create iso-angle display shading/lines

  1. Pick the surfaces and click Show IsoAngle.
  2. Choose Evaluate > Iso Angle .
  3. Choose whether to shade the surfaces and/or create lines.
  4. Choose whether to show a single or multiple bands.
  5. Choose whether to display iso-angle lines as curves-on-surface and whether these curves-on-surface are display only, or actual geometry.
  6. Use the manipulator to set the direction of projection.

If the manipulator is not visible, click the Show Manipulator button.

    Tip:

It is often helpful to use multiple bands as you position the manipulator to give you more feedback, then switch to fewer or a single band.

The iso-angle shader is also available from the Diagnostic Shade window. Some options are provided in the window. Others (such as number of bands and vector direction) must be accessed from the Evaluate > Iso Angle option box.

Where do I find the Diagnostic Shade window?

Note:

You cannot create iso-angle visual curves from Diagnostic Shading.
