Exercise 3: Import Roads

Import street data and map the properties in the original data source that correspond to model properties.

When you import street data, you can specify the number of lanes in each direction (if your original data contains this information). You can also map elevation data.

You can use the Expression Editor to map a style rule to the lane properties. That automatically styles the roads to show the correct number of lanes.

To import road data

  1. On the Data Sources panel, click (Add File Data Source).
  2. Click the file type for your road file, such as SHP.
  3. Navigate to the file containing road data and open it.
  4. On the Data Sources panel, double-click the new entry to configure it.
  5. Set the Type to Roads.
  6. Map any other properties that the original source file contains.

For example, map properties from your original data store to the Name, Lanes, and Elevation properties.

  7. To map the Lanes Forward and Lanes Backward properties to a style rule, click the Expression Editor icon in the Rule Style field.

Create the expression LanesTo + LanesFrom and click OK.

  8. Click Close & Refresh.
