About Revit Language Packs

Each Autodesk product is installed with a default language. A language pack is a mechanism used to provide another language for the Revit user interface and the documentation. Each language pack contains only the text strings and documents required to support a user working in the specified language; it does not duplicate the core Revit software.

Language packs are about 100 MB in size, so they can be installed and uninstalled quickly. A single installed product can support several languages, enabling users to switch from one to another when required.

For each user, the Revit software uses a single Revit.ini file, stored in the user profile folder. All language packs use the settings defined in that Revit.ini file.

Revit content and help

For online help (when connected to the Internet), by default users go to the Revit WikiHelp site for the corresponding language. If you always want to access WikiHelp for a particular language, regardless of the language pack being used, edit the Revit.ini file to define the OnlineHelpLocale setting in the Documentation section.
