Example:

Note: The CAD administrator performs these tasks.

Part 1: Create project file named Styles.ipj specifically for editing and defining styles

  1. Specify the location of the styles library on a shared network folder. For example: [shared network folder]:\Inventor\Styles\Background Images.
  2. Create a subfolder called Background Images.
  3. In the Project Editor, under Frequently Used Subfolders, add an entry named Background Images which points to [shared network folder]:\Inventor\Styles\. It displays after editing the project editor pane as: Background Images - Workspace\Background Images.
  4. Copy your background images to the respective folders. You must copy the image files manually to the shared location. Use Microsoft Windows Explorer to copy the image files.
Note: All background images in this folder can now be accessed from the Background tab on the Scene Styles dialog box, accessed from Scene Styles in the Scene panel of the Render tab.

    You can also create:

    • Additional subfolders for Background images.
  5. Set the Folder Options, Styles Library path to ".\".
  6. Set Use Styles Library = Read-Write.

  6. Click Exit.

Part 3: Assign background image to scene style.

  1. Open a new or existing .ipt or .iam file.
  2. If necessary, click Environments tab Begin panel Inventor Studio to switch to the Autodesk Inventor Studio environment.
  3. On the ribbon, click Render tab Scene panel Scene Styles .
  4. Highlight a scene style within the Background tab.
  5. Select the scene style you want to assign an image to. For this example pick Starfield.

Note: Starfield now appears with an asterisk: Starfield*. The asterisk indicates you have created the scene style locally.
  10. Right-click Starfield*, and select Save Style to Library to save it to the location specified in the Styles project file. Repeat the previous steps to assign background files to other scene styles.

Part 4: Configure the read-only styles library project file for users.

  1. Open the Project Editor and switch to the project file where the users are going to work. Set the Folder Option Styles Library path to the styles library location defined by the administrator. In the previous example, the path specified is: [shared network folder]:\Inventor\Styles\.
  2. Under Libraries, add an entry named Styles that points to the same folder as defined previously.
Note: Enter the path in both places to provide access to the custom background images.
  3. Set the Use Styles Library = Read Only.
