Add a material by duplicating a similar material, and then modify the properties.
To duplicate material within the same library, continue with the following steps. To copy a material from one library to another, see Copy materials between libraries.
Note: You will be notified when attempting to add a material to a library with a material name that already exists in the library and have the option to keep both or replace.
In QAT
- In the QAT, click Material . The Material Browser displays.
- In the Document Materials list, right-click the material you want to duplicate, and click Duplicate.
- To edit the new material, double-click it, or right-click it, and click Edit.
- Enter any modifications to the material name and assets.
- Click Apply, or OK.
In Material Editor
To perform this task, you must be in the Material Browser.
- Edit a document material.
- In the Material Editor toolbar, click , and then click Duplicate Material. A material is created from the selected material. A number is appended to the new material name.
- Modify the material name and any parameters as required.
- Optionally, change the material or appearance asset.
- Close the Material Editor. The duplicated material is in the Document Materials section. You can add it to a custom library.
