Display and view properties in nailboard drawings

In the nailboard, you can view and display harness properties for any wires, cable wires, ribbon cables, pins, segments, and splices displayed on the drawing. You can also view and display properties for the parts to which the pins belong. You select the harness objects and properties for display.

Properties are placed in the graphics window based on the location you select. After the properties are placed, you can adjust the displayed properties to their appropriate position if needed. Displayed text is associative to the related objects.

You can view properties on a selected object before placing them.

How are properties placed?

Once the properties chosen for display are applied, the properties for the first selected object appear in the graphics window attached to the cursor. A rubber band line exists from the cursor to the object, to preview the location before placing the properties. Once satisfied with the placement, click in the graphics window to add the properties to the drawing. After choosing the location for the first object, the properties for all other selected objects are placed using the same distance and angle from the point to which they are associated.

Displayed properties may overlap other geometry or text, but can be moved independently as needed.

How is property placement changed?

You can move each property independent of the others. Moving the property does not move the associated geometry. When the associated geometry is moved, however, the property text also moves keeping the same relative offset and direction of initial placement.

You can also right-click to rotate a property 90 degrees in the clockwise or counterclockwise direction.

What controls the property text style?

To change the text style, spacing, and font before placing properties, use Standard Autodesk Inventor Drawing Manager functionality. Using this functionality you can set different fonts to distinguish displayed properties. For example, you can select a smaller font for the pin names than the RefDes property.

Once the property is displayed, you can change the font by editing the text in the text box. Any changes to the actual text, except for color and font changes, are replaced during updates. If the text still matches the text in the harness assembly, then those changes are preserved during the update.
