Display properties in nailboard drawings

Use Property Display to display selected properties in the nailboard drawing. Use the filter and selection list to display only the properties you need. You can display properties only for harness objects that are visible.

Note: To change the text style, spacing, and font before placing properties, use Standard Autodesk Inventor Drawing Manager functionality.

Display properties for single harness objects

You can display properties for one or more selected objects. Once selected, the properties list for that object is displayed.

  1. From an open Nailboard drawing, edit the sketch that contains the harness.
  2. On the ribbon, click Nailboard tab Manage panel Property Display .
  3. Click Object.
    • For a wire, cable, ribbon cable, or segment, select the object you want to display the properties of (from the browser or graphics window).
    • Select wires in the fanned-in state from the browser.
    • An object can be selected before entering the command as well.
    • To display properties of a pin or part, select the pin point, and then select either Pin or Part from the Object Selection dialog box. Click OK.
    • To display properties of a splice or splice pin, select the splice, and then select either Pins or Splice from the Object Selection dialog box. Click OK.
  4. Select one or more properties from the list. Use the Control or Shift key to select multiple properties.
  5. If appropriate, click to change the Display Options between Value only or Name and Value.
  6. Click Apply. The properties are previewed in the graphics window.
    Note: For a wire, cable wire, ribbon cable, or segment, either press the spacebar or right-click, and then select Select Other to move the property association to the other end of the object.
  7. With the rubber band in the graphics window as a guide, click to place the properties.
  8. Select another object and repeat steps 3-7.
  9. Click Cancel or OK.

Display properties for multiple harness objects

  1. From an open Nailboard drawing, edit the sketch that contains the harness.
  2. On the ribbon, click Nailboard tab Manage panel Property Display .
  3. Click Object.
    • For a wire, cable, ribbon cable, or segment, select on the objects you want to display the properties of (from the browser or graphics window). The dialog box updates with the list of properties associated to that object type.
    • Like objects can be selected before entering the command.
    • To select a pin or part, click the pin point, and select either Pin or Part from the Object Selection dialog box. Click OK. Continue selecting more pin points as needed. As objects are selected the appropriate properties are added to the list in the dialog box.
    • To select a splice or splice pin, click the splice, and select either Pins or Splice from the Splice Object Selection dialog box. Click OK. Continue selecting more splices as desired. As objects are selected the appropriate properties are added to the list in the dialog box.
  4. Select or multi select the properties from the list.
  5. You can click to change the Display Options between Value only or Name and Value.
  6. Click Apply. The properties are previewed in the graphics window.
    Note: For a wire, cable wire, ribbon cable, or segment, either press the spacebar or right-click, and Select Other to move the property association to the other end of the object.
  7. With the rubber band in the graphics window as a guide, click to place the properties.
  8. Select another object and repeat steps 3 - 7.
  9. Click Cancel or OK.

Display properties by object type

  1. From an open Nailboard drawing, edit the sketch that contains the harness.
  2. On the ribbon, click Nailboard tab Manage panel Property Display .
  3. Select the appropriate selection filter option button: All wires, segments, cables, ribbon cables, parts, splices, or pins.
    Note: Splice pins are not included when All Pins is selected. Likewise, the All Parts selection does not include splices.
  4. Select or multi select properties from the list.
  5. You can click to change the Display Options between Value only or Name and Value.
  6. Click Apply. The properties are previewed in the graphics window.
  7. With the rubber band in the graphics window as a guide, click to place the properties.
  8. Select another object and repeat steps 3 - 7.
  9. Click Cancel or OK.
Tip: To switch the displayed property from one end to another in a segment, wire, cable wire, or ribbon cable use the spacebar or right-click and Select Other.
