Publish design view representations in DWF format

The Design Web Format (DWF) is a compressed, secure format used to publish CAD data. DWF files are fast to open and view. You can share them easily through email with customers, vendors, marketing, and others who do not have Autodesk Inventor installed.

The program creates a design view representation in the assembly environment and preserves an assembly display state.

If you select the Complete option in the Publish Assembly dialog box, all design views publish to the DWF file. Use the Custom options to set publish options for design views. When you select the Express option, no design views publish to the DWF file.

Note:

In the Assembly tab, select the views to publish.

If you do not select Master or <Initial> then both options are not selected or published. If you activate Master in the assembly browser and click Publish, the Master box is checked in the tree in the Assembly tab.

If you select a design view other than Master during publish in the Assembly, you cannot delete the selected view or the Master from the Assembly tab.

In the Design Review, all views publish to a folder with the default name “Published Views.” The program creates Representations, Position, and Presentation folders in this folder.

The following examples show what appears in the Assembly tab of the Publish dialog box, and the viewer:

Example 1

Assembly has no design views, so no design views attributes change.

Assembly tab

The design View and Position check boxes are disabled. It is not possible to publish any design view or positional representation.

Design Review

No design view publishes.

Example 2

Assembly has no design views but you edit the part (for example, change the material).

Assembly tab

Design view tree displays Master and Initial.

Note: When you clear Master and select it again, Initial is also selected. Clear Initial and Master is also cleared.

Design Review

The Master and Initial views publish.

Example 3

The assembly has the Master view set as active. Do not change any part attributes.

Assembly tab

Design view displays Master and View1, no Initial view.

Note: When you clear Master and check it again, the View1 is also selected. Clear View1 and Master is also clear.

Design Review

The Master and View1 views publish.

Example 4

Assembly has one design view, set View1 as active. Do not change any part attributes.

Assembly tab

Design view displays Master and View1, no Initial view. View1 is selected.

Note: When you clear View1 and check it again, Master is selected as well. Clear Master and the program also clears View1.

Design Review

Two design views publish: Master and View1.
