The Design Web Format (DWF) is a compressed, secure format used to publish CAD data. Using the Design Review, you can present an accurate visual representation of Autodesk Inventor assembly and part files, weldments, sheet metal parts, presentations, and drawings. Use published representations to share information with customers, vendors, marketing, and others who do not have Autodesk Inventor installed.
Access: | |
---|---|
Click Export Export to DWF. or Click Save As Save Copy As. In Save Copy As, select DWF Files (.dwf) or DWFx Files (.dwfx), and then click Options to open the Publish Assembly dialog box. |
Express |
Select to publish the current view of the document. Does not publish bill of materials data, design views, or positional representations. |
Complete |
Select to publish the full content of the file. Publishes all enabled bill of materials data, all design views, and all positional representations. Click here for a list of content that publishes with the Complete option. |
Custom |
Set publish options for design views, positional representations, and bill of materials data. |
Note: Any options set in the Properties and General tabs apply when publishing using the Express or Complete options.
|
Publish |
Click to generate the DWF file. |
Cancel |
Click to close the dialog box and discard any modifications. |
When you select the Custom option, the Assembly tab appears to set publishing options.
Bill of Materials |
|
An assembly has three ways to view bill of materials data: Model Data, Structured, and Parts-Only. The Model Data bill of materials view is not a bill of materials and is not an option when you export the BOM for an assembly. If either the Structured BOM or the Parts-only BOM options are disabled, you cannot publish the disabled BOM view to the DWF file. You can publish only enabled BOMs. |
|
Structured BOM |
Check the box to enable publishing structured BOM. |
Parts-only BOM |
Check the box to enable publishing parts only BOM. |
Design View |
|
The program creates a design view representation in the assembly environment and preserves an assembly display state. Note: You cannot publish any private design views (design view representation external to the assembly file). Also, no private design views appear in the Publish Assembly dialog box.
Select the views to publish. If you selected a design view other than Master during publish in the Assembly, you cannot delete the selected view and the Master from the Publish Assembly dialog box. In the Design Review, all views publish to a folder with the default name “Published Views.” The program creates Representations, Position, and Presentation folders in this folder. |
|
Express |
Select to publish no design views. |
Complete |
Select to publish all design views (if an assembly contains them). |
Positional Representations |
|
Positional representations capture kinematic “snapshots” of assemblies to allow for motion studies and evaluation of an assembly in various mechanistic states. The program saves positional representations in the parent assembly. You can retrieve them at any time for further analysis or modification. Note: To publish positional representations, activate Master positional representation.
The Assembly tab displays representations found in an active file. Select the representations you want to include in the DWF file. |
|
Dynamic Simulation |
|
Include Dynamic Simulation Animation - Check box is disabled unless there is a Dynamic Simulation animation contained within the assembly. Check box can be blank if you do not want to include the animation as part of the DWF file to be published. |
