IGES File Save As Options dialog box

Specifies the options for exporting Autodesk Inventor solid geometry and surface data to IGES format.

Results of exporting to IGES are:

Environment
  Part or Assembly
Access:

  1. In the Export Files task dialog box, select a file you have listed for export.
  2. In the Output File Name Column, Click . In the Save As dialog box, in Save As Type, select the file extension IGES files(*.iges), IGE files(*.ige), or IGS files(*.igs).
  3. Click Save.
  4. In the Export Files dialog box, click Options
Data Organization
  • Output Solids As Specifies how solids are created in the export file.
    • Surfaces
    • Solids
    • Wireframes
  • Surface Type When exporting to surfaces, specifies the surface type
    • IGES 143 - Bounded Surface is the default. It is mathematically more accurate than the older parametric surface type.
    • IGES 144 - Trimmed Surface is available for systems that do not recognize bounded surfaces, or if conversion problems occur.
  • Solid Face Type When exporting to solids, specifies the solid face type.
    • Analytic faces retain their analytic characteristics. Supported face types are Planar, Cylindrical, Conical, Spherical, and Toroidal.
    • NURBS If faces do not meet analytical characteristics, you can select NURBS faces.
  • Tolerance Displays the default tolerance for the IGES file. The accepted range for the tolerance value is from 0.00001 cm to 0.001 cm.

You can change this value, using cm units only. A smaller tolerance creates more accurate geometry approximations and larger file size. The value persists in current and later sessions until you change it.
