Once you activate Autodesk Inventor, you can open an existing file or start a new file. Templates are available on the Application menu 
New. You can choose from several templates with predefined units.
You can create a part, assembly, drawing, or presentation file using the default template, or a custom template that you create. Part and assembly templates set the default units of measurement, file properties, and other defaults for models. Drawing templates set the drafting standard, drawing resources, file properties, and other defaults for drawings. Presentation templates set the file properties for assembly presentations.
Templates are stored in the following folders in the English or Metric subfolders.
- Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows 8®: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor(version number)\Templates
In the Templates folder, subfolders contain the templates that are listed in the Create New File dialog box. You can create and save custom templates in the Templates folder.
