Improve drawing performance and capacity

Use the following options:

Enable background updates of drawing views

Select the Enable Background Updates option on the Drawing tab of Application Options. This option quickly displays raster drawing views for large assemblies and calculates precise drawing views at the background as you work. You can review the drawing or create drawing annotations before calculation of drawing views finishes.

  1. Click Options to open the Application Options dialog box.
  2. Open the Drawing tab.
  3. Select Enable Background Updates in the Capacity/Performance area.
  4. Click OK to close the Application Options dialog box.

Use design view and level of detail representations

Design view representations save memory if you turn off the visibility of components that do not have to be seen. Components with visibility turned off are not loaded into memory.

Level of Detail representations suppress unneeded components or replace many parts with a single part representation to reduce memory consumption.

  1. Close the assembly file used for a drawing view to prevent its graphics from being loaded into memory.
  2. On the ribbon, click Place Views tab Create panel Base .

Click Open an Existing File , and locate and select the assembly file.

  3. In the File Open dialog box, click Options.
  4. Select a design view and level of detail representation in the File Open Options dialog box.
  5. Click OK and Open to return to the Drawing View dialog box.
  6. Specify the drawing view properties and then click in the graphic window to place the view.
