Use positional representations to capture kinematic “snapshots” of assemblies for motion studies and other purposes where you require a specific view. You can combine positional representations with flexible assemblies to show component occurrences in various positions within an assembly.
The Design Web Format (DWF) is a compressed, secure format used to publish CAD data. DWF files are fast to open and view. You can share them easily though email with customers, vendors, marketing, and others who do not have Autodesk Inventor installed.
If you select the Complete option in the Publish Assembly dialog box, all positional representations publish to the DWF file. Use the Custom options to set publish options for positional representations. When you select the Express option, no positional representations publish to the DWF file.
The Assembly tab displays representations found in an active file. Select the representations you want to include in the DWF file.
Selecting the Root node sets child nodes to the same state.
Selecting one positional representation always selects the Master.
Selecting Master does nothing to the rest of the listed positional representations.
The following examples show the behavior of the Assembly tab and the viewer:
Example 1 |
Assembly has no Positional Representations. |
|
Assembly tab |
The design View and Position check boxes are disabled. It is not possible to publish any design view or positional representation. |
|
Design Review |
No positional representation publishes. |
Example 2 |
The Master positional representation of the assembly is active. |

The Master and the second positional representation are selected in the tree. |
