You can prevent automatic updates to speed up the edits on the tube and pipe runs assembly. Before putting the tube and pipe defer updates into effect, note:
- You can control the display and update settings for individual routes and runs only when a tube and pipe runs subassembly is not set to Defer all Tube & Pipe Updates.
- When individual routes and runs are set to defer updates, the appropriate part of tube and pipe drawings remains in the original status until you allow automatic updates in the assembly environment.
Defer all tube and pipe updates
- Right-click the Tube & Pipe Runs assembly, and then select Tube & Pipe Settings.
- In the Tube & Pipe Settings dialog box, do either of the following:
- To prevent automatic updates for the tube and pipe runs assembly, select the Defer all Tube & Pipe Updates check box. The tube and pipe runs assembly is hidden and most commands specific to Tube & Pipe are disabled.
- To allow the tube and pipe runs assembly to respond to changes, clear the Defer all Tube & Pipe Updates check box. The tube and pipe runs assembly is visible and commands specific to Tube & Pipe are available.
Change display and update settings for individual runs
Defer updates for the entire pipe run when you do not need to automatically update a large part of routes in the pipe run.
- Activate the Tube & Pipe Runs assembly or the pipe run.
- Do either of the following:
Change display and update settings for individual routes
You can change display and update setting for individual routes at the pipe run level. It overrides the setting at the tube and pipe runs assembly and pipe run levels, defer or allow specified routes in the pipe run to fully respond to changes. Note that the newly populated tube, pipe, and hose routes display as populated by default even when the parent pipe run is set to defer updates.
- Activate the Tube & Pipe Runs assembly or the pipe run.

Note: You can also activate an individual pipe run, and then use Display/Update Settings to make changes for specified routes.
