Migrate Command

The Migrate command allows you to open a legacy dataset and migrate it. The Migrate command will find and migrate all dependencies that are loaded into the file.

Note: The Migrate command will migrate derived parts, iPart and iAssembly members that you have inserted in the Assembly. Any part or assembly you used to create an iPart, iAssembly or derived part that is not loaded into the assembly will not be migrated. For example, the iPart factory or iAssembly factory is not migrated; only the members of the factory that are loaded into the Assembly are migrated.
Note: If you manage complex assemblies, we recommend you use Task Scheduler to migrate your data. This ensures all legacy data is migrated.

The Migrate command will prompt you to confirm to migrate the file and dependencies even when the 'Prompt to save for migration' checkbox in Application Options, Save tab is deselected.

To use the Migrate command:

  1. Open a file that was created in an earlier version of Autodesk Inventor (as far back as Autodesk Inventor 2008).
  2. Click > Manage > Migrate.

The Migrate command is only available if the current file has not been migrated.
