Multi-sheet Plot

Prints a collection of drawing sheets of one or more sizes.

Schedule printing so that several jobs print in a batch at a specified time.
Access
On the Start menu, click Programs Autodesk Autodesk Inventor [version] Autodesk Multi-sheet Plot.

Page Setup

Sets page preferences for printing one or more drawing sheets.

Printer
Click the arrow to select the printer from the list. Click Properties to specify layout and paper/quality preferences.
Sheet
  • Units Specifies inch or mm unit as the default for height, width, gap, and margins.
  • Paper Size Specifies a standard paper size. All paper sizes supported by the selected printer are listed. Width and height are shown for the selected paper size.
  • Plot Area Defines the total area on which one or more sheets are printed.
    • Gap specifies the gap between sheets on the same page. The gap can range from zero to 25.4 mm or 1 inch. If blank, uses the previously used gap, or zero if it is the first plot.
    • Scale sets the print scale. Select a value from the list or specify a scale.
    • Sheet Boundary specifies whether the sheet boundary shows in the print.
    • Cut Line specifies whether the cut line shows in the print.
Margins
Specifies margins for Top, Bottom, Left, and Right of the page. The printable area of the page determines the default margins, which depend on the printer. Set margins inside the printable area. Click the arrow to increase or decrease the margin size.

Select Drawing Files

In the specified project, selects IDW, 2D DWF, and DWG (Autodesk Inventor) files for printing.

Project
Specifies the active project or click Browse to select a different project.
Source Files

Lists all IDW, 2D DWF, and DWG (Autodesk Inventor) files in the project. Click to select one or more files to print, and then click the right arrow button to move it to the Selected Files box.

Click Browse to navigate to files not included in the active project. References to and from files not included in the active project sometimes do not resolve correctly.

If one or more sheets in a selected file are larger than the print area, a warning message displays:
  • Skip the file Retains the file in the Source Files box, but marks it with a skipped file icon.
  • Modify Page Setup options Returns to the Page Setup page, where you can set new page size, print area, and margins.
  • Scale to fit Resizes drawings to fit the selected sheet size.

Select the Apply to all items checkbox to apply the selection to all files. Not available if Modify Page Setup is selected.

Selected files
Lists files selected from Source files. Click the left arrow button to remove a selected file from the box.

Select Project

Sets the project from which to select IDW, DWG (Autodesk Inventor) and DWF files for plotting.

Project Name
Selects the project from which to select drawings to plot.
Project Location
Specifies the path name of the selected project.

Preview

After you select drawings, and a composite generates, a preview displays.

Preview
Displays the generated composite of the drawings to plot. The number of pages depends on the number of selected files and sheet sizes.

Click Next or Previous to view other pages , or click the arrow to select a specific page to view.

Report
Displays information about the composite. Includes the number of pages, page currently displayed, number of sheets on the current page to plot, size of the current page. Reports the percentage of used space on the current page.
Back
Returns to the Select Drawing Files page to select more files, or to the Page Setup to modify page size, plot area, or margins.
Submit
Shows the Print page.

Print

Prints the multi-sheet composite.

Printer
Shows the printer selected on Page Setup, and shows its status, type, and connection.

If necessary, select the Print to file checkbox to print to a file instead of sending the plot to a printer. Enter a file name when you click Print.

To schedule the print in Task Scheduler, select Print to File, and then select the Schedule task checkbox. After you save the file, the Task Scheduler opens and you can set up a print time.

Orientation

Displays the orientation as specified in the printer properties dialog box.

Copies

Click arrows to select the Number of Copies. If greater than one, select Collate check box, if desired. Select All Colors As Black, if desired.

Print Range
Selects All pages, Current Sheet Only, or Sheets specified individually or in a range.
Print
Prints the selected drawings according to specifications.
