Insert conduit parts and fittings into a tube and pipe assembly

Library conduit parts in the Content Center can be placed anywhere in the background of the graphics window of a tube and pipe assembly, and then connected to other components using the Connect Fittings command.

Fittings are selected from either the Content Center or the active project workspace and inserted in both populated and unpopulated routes in the assembly. You can also select any non-library fitting in the assembly using the Place Fitting command. Fittings inserted in routes enable the pipe run to branch off a primary route to create multiple routes in a single run. You can also insert fittings in routes to build groups of adjacent fittings.

Note: If a fitting is dropped onto an auto route region, it creates 2 auto route regions with a shared sketched route point.

What conduit parts and fittings can be inserted?

Library fittings and conduit parts can be placed into tube and pipe assemblies using the Place from Content Center command.

In addition you can place additional occurrences using the Place Fitting command for:

Where are conduit parts and fittings inserted?

Conduit parts can be inserted anywhere in the background of the graphics window, which drops the component without any associations. You must connect the placed conduit parts to other components using the Connect Fittings command for future use.

Fittings can be inserted in any of the following locations:

What determines fitting compatibility?

When connecting fittings and components, the system checks for end treatment type, nominal size, and gender. The system allows the incompatibility of these 3 settings, but warns you of the condition. When making connections between adjacent fittings, the inserted fitting must have at least two collinear connections. For example, tees, crosses, and most valves are valid selections while elbows and plugs are not.

How can I edit the placed fitting?

A placed fitting behaves differently depending on where it is placed in a route.

If a fitting is placed onto an auto route region, it splits the region. To reposition the fitting, use either of the following methods:

If a fitting is placed onto a sketched route segment, it splits the segment. To reposition the fitting, use either of the following methods:

If a fitting is placed between adjacent fittings, no route point is created. To reposition the fitting, use either of the following methods:

If a flanged fitting is placed onto a flanged route, two flanges and two gaskets (if designated in the style) are automatically generated at the sides of the placed fitting.
