Transfer a library between Desktop Content and Server

Use the Library Transfer Guide to transfer Content Center libraries.

Notes:

• Desktop Content libraries can be transferred only to the current version of the Autodesk Vault server. Transfer to other server versions is not supported. Example: Inventor 2011 can transfer libraries from the 2011 Desktop Content folder to the 2011 partition of the Vault Server 2011.
• The current and three previous versions of the Autodesk Vault server support transfer from the highest server partition to the current Desktop Content folder.
• The transfer process does not change original libraries.
• Log in to the server to transfer libraries.
• The server must be compatible with your version of Autodesk Inventor.
• The transferred library must be unique in the destination storage. That means it must have a unique File Name, Display Name, and internal library name. The internal library name is created when the library is created, and cannot be changed. If a copy of the same library exists in the destination, the library is duplicate and cannot be transferred.
• A Log file includes details of the transfer process.

To transfer a library from the Vault server to Desktop Content

1. Click Manage Projects.
2. On the Projects dialog box, click Configure Content Center Libraries.
3. On the Configure Libraries dialog box, click Library Transfer Guide.
4. On the first panel, select From Autodesk Vault Server to Inventor Desktop Content, and then click Next.
5. On the second panel, specify the server log in information, and then click Next.
6. On the third panel, the Select Libraries to Transfer list displays user libraries available on the server. Select libraries to transfer, and then click Next.
7. Selected libraries are transferred and a summary panel is displayed. You can click the Log file hyperlink to review the Log file.
8. Click Close to close the Library Transfer Guide dialog box.

Note: Transferred libraries are not automatically added to the configuration. To add the libraries, in the Configure Libraries dialog box, select the check box for In Use.

To transfer a library from Desktop Content to the Vault server

1. Click Manage Projects.
2. On the Projects dialog box, click Configure Content Center Libraries.
3. On the Configure Libraries dialog box, click Library Transfer Guide.
4. On the first panel, select From Inventor Desktop Content to Autodesk Vault Server, and then click Next.
5. On the second panel, specify the server log in information, and then click Next.
6. On the third panel, the Select Libraries to Transfer list displays user libraries available in the Desktop Content location. Select libraries to transfer, and then click Next.
7. Selected libraries are transferred and a summary panel is displayed. You can click the Log file hyperlink to review the Log file.
8. Click Close to close the Library Transfer Guide dialog box.

Note: Libraries from Autodesk Inventor 2010 can be transferred only to the Vault Server 2010. Previous versions of the server do not support transfer from the Desktop Content location.

Tip: Transferred libraries are not automatically added to the configuration. To add the libraries, in the Configure Libraries dialog box, select the check box for In Use.
