Clevis Pin Generator dialog box - Design tab

Sets parameters for design of a clevis pin.

You need to be connected to the Content Center server and Content Center must be configured on your computers to work with Clevis Pin Generator. If you are not connected to the Content Center, the Items area where you select the pin is grayed out.

See the Content Center Help, or Manage libraries across design workgroups Help to learn how to use the Content Center.

Placement

This section is used for placement specification of the clevis pin.

The first pull-down menu is used for placement specification of the clevis pin. You have 4 options to specify the clevis pin position. According to your selection, commands for placement are enabled below the pull-down menu.

Placement Options:

  • Linear - creates holes on a face with respect to 2 linear edges.
  • Concentric - creates holes on a face, concentric with a circular edge or cylindrical face.
  • On Point - creates holes which are coincident with a work point and positioned with respect to an axis, edge, or work plane.
  • By Hole - place components into the selected hole.

Commands for placement are used for placement specification of the created clevis pin:

Note: Displayed placement commands depend on the selected Placement option.
  • Face - select a start face to place the hole.
  • Reference 1 - select the first linear edge referenced for dimensioning the placement of the hole.
  • Reference 2 - the second linear edge referenced for dimensioning the placement of the hole.
  • Circular - selects the object referenced for the placement of the hole center. Choose a circular edge or cylindrical face.
  • Point - selects a work point to set the hole center.
  • Existing Hole - selects an existing hole.
  • Termination - select an end face.

Pin

Specify the pin diameter.

Items

This section is used for designing a clevis pin connection.

First, the placement selection must be done. According to the selected placement options, the generator chooses the number of holes or offers to select additional holes or add virtual holes. To begin populating the clevis pin connection, you must follow the instructions provided under the Items list "Click to select pin." When you click this area of the selection list, a filtered list of available pin content (from Content Center) based upon previously set Hole Diameter settings is displayed.

Each of the components is editable:

Custom Properties

Displays the Custom Properties dialog box where you can change part parameters (length of clevis pin, clevis pin diameter, and so on).

Delete

Deletes the component.

Change Content

Displays a dialog box where you can select from filtered Content Center items.

Summary of Messages

Displays the reports about calculations. To open the Summary of Messages section at the bottom of the Calculation and Design tabs, double-click the double line at the bottom of tabs or click the chevron at the bottom of the tabs.

Graphical Preview

According to the selected geometry, a graphic preview is presented in Autodesk Inventor. You can use grips to specify pin length, for example.
