There are 2 methods for creating a nailboard drawing:
- From the cable and harness environment.
- From an open drawing.
Note: Each new drawing is created from a template. When you install Autodesk Inventor, your selection of a default drafting standard sets the default template used to create drawings.
To enforce conventions you can:
- Use this template or another predefined template.
- Modify one of the predefined templates.
- Create your own templates.
Note: You can only create a nailboard in a master level of detail.
Create a nailboard from the cable and harness environment

- In the Autodesk Inventor Model browser, double-click the harness assembly to document.
- Optionally, right-click the harness assembly in the browser, and then select Harness Settings. Select the Nailboard tab to modify the default display for new nailboard drawings.
- On the ribbon, click

- In the Open template dialog box, click the template to use, and then click OK.
Note: If the template is not on the Default tab, open the appropriate tab to find the template.

Create a nailboard view from an open drawing

- From an open drawing, click

- On the View tab of the Nailboard View dialog box, select the standard Autodesk Inventor assembly that contains the harness assembly to document.
- If the assembly contains multiple harness assemblies, click the arrow under Harness Assembly and select the assembly to document from the list.
- If the assembly is a member in a configuration, click the arrow and select the member to use.
- Optionally, click the Display tab to modify the default display for wires, segments, and wire stubs in new nailboard drawings.
- Click OK.
- In the graphics window, move the harness assembly preview to the desired location, and then click to place the view.
