The AutoCAD Library for Intent allows Intent Rule developers to generate models in AutoCAD. Like any Intent host, AutoCAD has some unique aspects which require special support from Intent, and require that the Intent developer have an understanding of AutoCAD concepts. This section is provided to give Intent developers an understanding of how Intent is mapped into the AutoCAD environment, and what important considerations are needed when developing Intent AutoCAD applications.
AutoCAD is one of the most long-lived CAD systems available today. It has a very large range of uses, and is now delivered in a large number of specialized versions, such as AutoCAD Mechanical, that tailor it toward a particular industry. Intent does not directly support any of these specialized versions; Intent AutoCAD support will be automatically installed if AutoCAD or AutoCAD Mechanical is present at the time of installation, but it can also be manually installed on the other versions, such as AutoCAD Architechure or AutoCAD Electrical. See the Installation Guide for details on manual installation.
The following sections cover details on how Intent's default behavior is customized for the AutoCAD environment.
