Add study and plot notes

Learn how to add study notes and plot notes to an analysis result.

You will use the project you used to complete the Getting Started tutorial. This project contains two studies. The first study, cellphone_study_1 , has one injection location, and the second study, cellphone_study_2 , has two injection locations. A Fill+Pack analysis has been run on each model.

Note: To open the Getting Started project, click Open Project, Get Started tab (Get Started tab > Launch panel > Open Project), select the Getting Started project file from the list, and click Open. The first study, cellphone_study, is automatically displayed.

You can enter study notes and plot notes to highlight areas of interest. These notes will help your team members understand the results when they display them in Autodesk Simulation Moldflow Communicator.

  1. Click User Interface, View tab (View tab > Windows panel > User Interface) and select Notes from the drop-down menu, if it is not already open.
  2. Select the Study Note tab in the Notes panel.
  3. Enter information about this study, such as the number of injection locations used in the analyses.
  4. Select the Plot Note tab in the Notes panel.
  5. Display each of the following results, and enter a plot note explaining areas of interest within that result. For example, note where to look for weld lines or sink marks. Use the following results:
    • Fill time
    • Pressure at end of fill
    • Pressure drop
    • Air traps
    • Weld lines
    • Time to reach ejection temperature
    • Volumetric shrinkage at ejection
  6. Repeat the steps above with the second study, cellphone_study_2 .
  7. Select cellphone_study_2 in the Project View pane.
  8. Select each of the results listed above, and indicate in the plot notes how the results change when you use two injection locations instead of one.
